A place to enjoy the depth of fermentation
We, Kikusui Sake Brewery, are opening a new facility, KIKUSUI KURA GARDEN, in Shibata, Niigata Prefecture, where our brewery is located.
The facility includes a shop, café, and laboratory. It is surrounded by the rich natural environment and gardens of “Kita-Echigo,” northern part of Niigata.
Here, you will find “Discovery,” “Health,” “Relaxation,” “Fun,” and “Enjoyment” brought about by fermentation. We call this “Fermentation Entertainment.”
Sake is created through fermentation when rice, koji, and water are mixed together. When people and regions mix their various personalities, new charms emerge, just as if fermentation were taking place.
KIKUSUI KURA GARDEN will be a place that embodies “Fermentation Entertainment,” where visitors can enjoy not only sake, but also other interesting fermented products and experiences, as well as discoveries made through the combination of “people and people,” and “people and regions.”
Aiming to create a hearty lifestyle
KIKUSUI KURA GARDEN is partly built with old materials of a soy-sauce warehouse that was used by the main family of the founding family of Kikusui Sake Brewery during the Meiji Era (1868-1912). This is a statement of our determination to carry on the traditions of the brewery, including the days of the soy-sauce warehouse. While carrying on the tradition, we are challenging ourselves to evolve into a “Fermentation Entertainment” brewery, believing that “Fermentation Entertainment” will help create a hearty lifestyle.
KIKUSUI KURA GARDEN is scheduled for a grand opening in late April 2025.
